Program Overview

The NCFIE’s Wraparound Training is designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to implement Wraparound.  This training is skills-based and teaches the basics of how to implement the Wraparound model.  Upon completion of this training, individuals may choose to become certified by participating in a coaching process.  The following Certification Tracks are available from the NCFIE:

Wraparound Competency Certification: For practitioners, administrators, or potential coaches/supervisors.  Certification students attend 8-12 hours of virtual group coaching modules that teach the core competencies of the wraparound phases of practice.  Students are also required to pass an exam after completion of the modules.  Renewal required every 2 years.
Wraparound Proficiency Certification: For practitioners, administrators, coaches, supervisors and other champions who have demonstrated competency in wraparound practice and want an advanced practitioner certification.  Learners must have at least 2 years’ experience in delivering the wraparound process and are currently working for an organization utilizing the Wraparound Process.  In addition to the completing the competency coaching, students attend 4-6 hours of additional virtual group coaching and complete a portfolio for review, demonstrating fidelity to the wraparound process.  Renewal required every 2 years.

The Institute will build the core competencies necessary to successfully engage youth and families and adhere to the principles of practice in carrying out all phases of Wraparound activities including the strength and cultural discovery process, care coordination, constructing and conducting family team meetings, the incorporation of natural and community supports, cultural competence, and the role and function of a family and youth partner.
